How To Choose A Window And Door Company - Clera Windows + Doors

If you’re in the market for windows and doors, you’re probably inundated with more companies than you know what to do with. So, how do you choose the right window and door company? There are a few considerations to keep in mind when conducting your search:

  • Level of experience
  • Quality and Reputation
  • Customer service

Level of Experience

Statistics say that many new window and door companies will “close their doors” after only a short five years. With that said, are they offering a lifetime warranty on their products? If they go out of business, your warranty won’t even be good enough to wash your windows with.

A window and door company that has been around for at least five years has a better level of experience and will likely stay in business for the foreseeable future. That’s not to say you shouldn’t go with any new window and door companies – just be wary when you are selecting them.

Quality and Reputation

Some believe that a man has only his reputation. The same notion is just as true – if not more so – for a window and door company. Based on what their customer population thinks of them, you can easily determine whether they are worth your time and money. They may have excellent quality products, but if their installation is sub-par, or their customer service, they may not be worth it. Find out what previous customers are saying about these companies, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of whether to continue your appraisal of the company.

Customer Service

Maybe a company’s installation is perfect, and their materials are high quality, but the whole team was a surly lot, and they broke three lamps and a table rampaging through your home. Doesn’t seem all that professional, does it? A company that knows how to stay in business knows how to provide top-notch customer and professional service. To evaluate a company’s work ethic and professionalism, be mindful of how they treat you. Are they courteous? Do they answer all your questions? Do they give you the time you deserve? If not, it may be time to move on.

As a side note, most companies will offer you an in-home consultation – often for free. If they aren’t willing to provide this, they are probably more concerned about taking your money than providing you with a quality service at an affordable price.

A company that provides a sub-par service and product can only survive for as long as they can fool people – which won’t be very long. To keep you far away from these companies, be sure to conduct a thorough examination of everyone. Don’t take anything at face value, read about them online and ask every question that comes to your mind.
