Bay and Bow Windows

Any window type can be configured as bay and bow windows, but they still follow standard sizes: Bay and Bow Windows: Minimum of 42″x36″; maximum of 1200″78″. Awning Windows

Awning windows are hinged at the top and open outward from the bottom, providing excellent ventilation and protection from the elements. They’re a popular window type to allow fresh air and plenty of natural light into a space.

  • Double-glazed Awning Windows: Minimum of 14.5″x14″; maximum of 50″x60″
  • Triple-glazed Awning Windows: Minimum of 14.5″x14″; maximum of 50″x50″

Sliding Windows

Legal Window Dimensions for New and Replacement Windows

In Ontario, only egress windows have specific dimensions and requirements listed in the Ontario Building Code—a minimum of 20”x24” with a net clearance of 5.7 square ft., large enough for a person to exit.
